SmartStrand Carpet: A review by Nola the Bulldog
Hi everyone! My name is Nola (I also go by Fatty, Milkshake, and Nodropit)! I’m a Capricorn, and I like chewing on stuff, eating watermelon, and plain vanilla ice cream.
My mom asked me to help her out with work and tell you guys all about these awesome new floors! She explains the situation here. Go ahead and read it, I’ll wait; I know how to sit… and stay… and shake.
Good, you’re back! Did you bring me a treat? No? That’s ok, Mom promised me ice cream if I help out. She says this first one will be easy, since I’m supposed to tell you guys about Mohawk’s SmartStrand with DuPont Sorona (jeeze that’s a long name, it must be important carpet, all the important people have long names).
This review will be easy because we have SmartStrand at home, and I’ve been trying to ruin this carpet since I was a little puppy. Spoiler alert: I haven’t done it yet!
Mohawk says that this carpet is made from corn sugar, which makes it green. Wait… that can’t be right… our carpet is gray. They must be confused, or color blind, I knew a puppy who was color blind once, he was funny…
Correction: Mom is telling me that “green” means that it’s good for the environment. Why don’t they just say that? It’s a little silly to call it green, when they aren’t even talking about the color. Whatever, I still get my ice cream, right?
The SmartStrand carpet is made with Sorona, which is a continuous filament fiber. That means that the fiber is solid and can’t absorb any liquids; which is how stains are born (duh). And because it’s a solid fiber, it doesn’t need to be treated with a stain protectant, which makes the finished carpet SUPER soft. Trust me on this one, our carpet feels soooo soft and fluffy against my belly when I’m lying down; chewing a pair of mom’s shoes a bone.
Mohawk also sells peace of mind with this SmartStrand carpet; it has all kinds of awesome warranties. So if I am actually ever able to stain our carpet at home, then Mohawk will replace it. Don’t tell mom, but I keep trying to “test” our carpet; I can’t stain it. Believe me, I’ve tried, lots… And if you’ve ever met a bulldog before, then you already know, if I can’t stain it, no one can. Every time I track something in from outside, or heaven-forbid, have an accident (hey! it happens), mom just cleans it right up and the carpet is as good as new! I’ll keep trying, I’ll let you know if anything sticks.
Well, I think that’s the important stuff… oh wait! Don’t go yet! Mom says I can’t have my ice cream until I tell you about how soft it is again. Trust me this stuff is S-O-F-T! You really have to feel it for yourself to believe how soft it is. They have tons of it at mom’s work, so go check it out! We might bump into each other!
Ok I gotta go now, its nap time!

I am sure that they carpet is great. That being said, I love this idea! What a creative and innovative way to present information to your consumers. Whoever your marketing person is – I assume it is Nola’s mom, she is fantastic! Please say hello to Nola.
